Advising Advice (for quick email response) If you are a student that has me as your assigned advisor, I advise you to follow these steps to do course registration and plan of study as easily as possible. 0. Check and make sure I am your advisor. The pairings change regularly. If I am not your official advisor there is little I can do eo help you. 1. Course registration: If you know the courses for which you intend to register, please just send me email with a. your name b. your student ID# c. your chosen courses and a request to lift your bar. This usually can be done in less than 48 hours with notification by email response. 2. Plan of study: Find the form for your degree on-line at http://www.engr.uconn.edu/, then click on 'Undegradaute Programs' and then 'Plans of Study'. Download the form and fill out as much as you can. Usually you will be able to complete this on your own as it is highly constrained and is primarily an exercise in adding credits into the right boxes. I then suggest you leave a single draft copy in my departmental mail box on the 2nd floor of ITEB. Be sure your email is on it !!! (Keep a copy for your reference.) I'll review and respond about any problems. Once finalized, you can create two originals in ink, sign both, drop again in my mail box and I'll forward into the approval system. Of course, the busy times are towards the end of the semester, so please plan accordingly. 3. Experience shows that these are most efficient for both me and you. If there are problems that cannot be resolved via email, then an appointment can be scheduled. Dr. Peters
