EDI Integration Internship

      Our Information Technology team is accepting applicants for a Co-Op for the Spring Semester 2016 working in the America’s ISC/IT department based in Naugatuck CT. The Co-Op or will be three to four days per week to permit the student to schedule their work while keeping their studies in mind. The position is an ideal fit for a junior or senior (preferred) in any Information Systems undergraduate degree program that would like to add on-the-job experience to their resume especially for someone with a focus on IT Integration. The job will be entry level to start and will come with further responsibility as the student proves their abilities. A brief outline is below.

POSITION SUMMARY

Employee will be responsible working within the EDI Integration team in the Information Systems Department.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with senior department members to develop understanding of project definition, including input and output requirements and anticipated timetable.
  • Determine best method for data communications based on evaluation and utilization of existing EDI/XML application logic (where applicable)
  • Develop EDI translation maps using department standards necessary to meet project requirements.
  • Conducts EDI application testing sufficient to identify and correct inconsistencies with developed map.
  • Generate documentation and operational procedures using department standards.
  • Follow department procedures for deployment of new EDI/XML applications and enhancements to all necessary systems. 
  • Supports external and internal end users in the usage of all EDI/XML applications relative to their technical ability, regardless of involvement with the initial EDI/XML application development. 
  • Troubleshoot EDI issues and claims and provide documented evidence to involved parties.

SKILLS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Complete High School Education
  • No previous experience required
  • Information systems BS-CIS candidate
  • Strong administrative skills are required. 
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills oral and written communication skills. 
  • Proven ability to work with discretion and confidentiality. 
  • Advanced skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 


IT Software Development Internship

POSITION SUMMARY:
Employee will be responsible working within Software Development teams in the Information Systems Department.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develops applications following specifications using the appropriate tools
• Maintains and modifies existing applications under direction from senior staff members. 
• Regular consultation with senior team members
• Implementation of application code, user interface and data structures
• Application debugging, system test and client acceptance
• Typically works under close supervision.

SKILLS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE (preferred)
• Pursuing a BS/BA degree in Computer Science or similar
• Java experience is a plus
• Knowledge of the principals of web-based application development. 
• Knowledge of the principles of relational database design, and database protocols
• Ability to understand and implement technical designs created by others
• Ability to clearly understand, technical specifications, and infrastructure
• Must be able to learn independently
• Candidate must have good English oral and written communication

The job will be entry level to start and will come with further responsibility as the student proves their abilities. A brief outline is below.

POSITION SUMMARY

Employee will be responsible working within the Engineering +/or Development teams in the Information Systems Department.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Field incoming dept. requests from end users via both telephone and e-mail in a courteous manner.
      • Prioritize, schedule, Escalate problems (when required) to the appropriate engineering manager.
      • Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
      • Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on the Internet to aid in problem resolution.
      • Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization.
      • Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
      • Install anti-virus software.
      • Test fixes to esure problem has been adequately resolved.
