Speaker: George Pantazis Day: Wednesday, 04/11/2007 Room: ITEB 336 Time: 2:00-3:30pm Title: Auction Theory and Mechanisms Abstract Auction Theory and Mechanisms - A Literature Survey. Discuss what auction theory is, what are the goals and answer some of the questions that arise. Describe the protocols and strategies of the basic auction types and analyze what is the most efficient way to bid on certain auctions. We will compare different auction formats, identify similarities and analyze which protocols are better for the bidders and sellers. We will also observe how bidder collusion affects auctions. Finally, an interactive demo will be presented that will require audience participation by bidding in virtual auctions.
