Speaker: Solomon Berhe Day: Wednesday, 4/16/2008 Room: ITEB 336 Time: 1:00-2:00pm Title: XML Schema Based RBAC Approach Abstract: The XML Schema expresses constraints and structures of XML instances. Unlike its predecessor, DTD, it provides features such as namespaces, built in basic types, keys and import facilities. Thus, in this presentation, its expressive power to incorporate RBAC features will be examined, as access control based on the schema will be transported to all its instances. We will go over the extended RBAC model proposed in the paper and introduce the author's newly included constraints to propagate permissions to super and sub components. Finally, due to expressive limitations four RBAC constraints this model is not able to handle will be addressed. Reference: Xinwen Zhang, Jaehong Park, Ravi S.
