Below are links to 3 papers:

3.Rafieri, Mendelzon, Querying Time Series Data Based on Similarity

This is a research project, where you are to compare and contrast two papers: paper 1 and either paper 2 or 3. Note: the papers are in PostScript; if you cannot read or print PostScript, you can download the application for it at the bottom of CSE 350 homepage.

Some of the questions you should consider are:

• Are these two paper trying to solve the same problem?
• Do they use the same assumptions?  Do they use the same techniques? 
• Do their techniques have any of the same weaknesses?  Any of the same strengths? 
• Any difference in weaknesses?  Any difference in strengths?

If the papers have different strengths, please also discuss:

• is there a way to combine their strength into a unified approach that is better than either of them separately?

Your paper should be in 12 pt font, with 1 inch margins, and at least 5 full pages (in single-line spacing).  Justify everything you say, such as with examples, proofs, or references!  You are strongly encouraged to consult any of the papers that these two papers refer to, and to make use of what you find in your report.
