What is CyberSEED?

The 2023 Edition of CyberSEED will be online!

Hosted by the Connecticut Advanced Computing Center (CACC), CyberSEED brings together dozens of universities and colleges to compete in unique cybersecurity challenges for awesome prizes.

It seems that online is the way to go and CyberSEED'23 will continue with this tradition. The 23 Edition is a completely online event. As before, we welcome teams who will compete in a new and exciting capture the flag event designed specifically for this latest installment of CyberSEED. We look forward to a great event with broad participation. Let the fun begin!

Competition

cyber skylineThe Capture the Flag Competition will touch on a variety of cybersecurity challenges including a set of flags focusing on reverse engineering, web application security, network traffic analysis, cryptography, amongst others. The competition will require breadth of skills including some basic scripted programming capabilities as well as a facility with network monitoring and forensics tools.

Logistics and Activities

  • Where The event is completely online. We will be using Slack to coordinate the event and communicate with all the teams during the event.
  • When The event will take place on March 4, 2023 from 9:30AM to 5:30PM Eastern time. Orientation will take place at the start of the event. Actual kick off at 10AM. End of games at 5PM.
  • Prizes Winners will have to register with the UConn system (become a vendor) to claim their winnings.

Student Requirements:

Students should be prepared with laptops. The ability to execute code in a Linux environment (physical or virtual) will be helpful but not required.

  • October 20, 2014 - CyberSEED launches only six months after CSI was established on the Uconn Storrs campus. The center unites the expertise of researchers within Uconn's existing Center for Hardware Assurance, Security and Engineering, and Comcast's leadership in internet systems security.
  • April 10, 2014 - The University of Connecticut, home to the nation's foremost center on hardware security, and Comcast announce the establishment of the Center of Excellence for Security Innovation (CSI) at UConn.
