Towards Privacy-aware Mobile Crowdsensing

Abstract:  Mobile crowdsensing is an emerging sensing paradigm that outsources the collection of data to a crowd of participating sensing users with mobile devices. Nowadays, mobile devices are equipped with a plethora of on-board sensors (e.g., compass, accelerometer, gyroscope, camera, GPS) to sense various types of data from the surrounding environment. However, the wide adoption of mobile crowd sensing is largely hindered by its privacy concerns. Specifically, to facilitate the functionality at each stage of mobile crowdsensing, including sensing task allocation, sensing data collection, and result aggregation, sensing users report to the server with their location information, sensing capabilities, task preferences, and sensing results that will potentially disclose their daily routines, behavior patterns, and even real identities. This talk will discuss challenges of privacy leakages in current mobile crowdsensing systems, with focus on privacy-aware and secure data aggregation over incomplete crowdsensing data and location privacy preservation for crowdsensing tasks.

Bio: Dr. Linke Guo received the BE degree in electronic information science and technology from the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2008. He received his MS and PhD degrees in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Florida in 2011 and 2014, respectively. Since August 2014, he has been an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Binghamton University, State University of New York. His research interests include network security and privacy, wireless network, social networks, and applied cryptography. His research is currently being supported by National Science Foundation (NSF). He serves as the publication chair of IEEE Conference on Communications and Network Security (CNS) 2016 and 2017. He was the symposium co-chair of Network Algorithms and Performance Evaluation Symposium, ICNC 2016. He has served as the Technical Program Committee (TPC) members for several conferences including IEEE INFOCOM, CNS, ICC, GLOBECOM, and WCNC. He is the co-recipient of Best Paper Award of GLOBECOM 2015, Symposium on Communication and Information System Security. He is a member of the IEEE and ACM.
