Bioinformatics/Computational Genomics Intern @ UConn


I am looking for a motivated and resourceful student (advanced undergraduate or graduate) who is interested in Bioinformatics and/or Computational Genomics to help with analyzing next generation sequencing (NGS) data. In this project we analyze exome sequencing and RNA-seq data from breast cancer tumors to identify candidate biomarkers of drug resistance.  This is a part time paid internship for 10-20 hours per week. The position begins immediately.



  • Develop sequence analysis pipelines using available software tools 

  • Run the pipelines on several samples

  • Summarize and analyze the results

  • Prepare report



  • Able to work in Linux environment 

  • Working knowledge of programing languages such as R, Java or Python

  • Familiar with Bioinformatics tools

  • Familiar with NGS data (fastq and BAM files)

  • Basic knowledge of genomics

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent time-management skills

  • Strong ability to work in collaborative, team setting
