Jr. Software Project Manager in the greater Boston area

I am a recruiter representing a software development client in the Greater Boston Area that has a ground-floor opportunity for a new Computer Science graduate. The Junior Software Project Manager will have a key-role within the Professional Services team to ensure delivery of projects on-time, on budget and with great customer satisfaction.

This position is limited to US citizens and Green Card holders only at this time.

Job description:

•             Create and conscientiously update the project plan in our on-line project management system:

•             Contribute to the creation of project estimates and scoping

•             Create and sequence tasks (WBS, Gantt, etc.)

•             Assign resources to tasks in collaboration with the TAM and other project managers

•             Review progress and audit budget utilization

•             Maintain project documentation

•             Carry out customary project admin activities:

•             Schedule internal and client meetings and conference calls

•             Create and distribute meeting minutes

•             Review and validate weekly timesheet

•             Monitor projects:

•             Assess risk and mitigation strategies

•             Provide regular updates and statuses to clients and management

•             Assess and control project profitability

Core skills:

•             BA/MBA, BS/MS in Computer Science, Operations Research, or equivalent, with a concentration or specialization in project management (or equivalent actual experience)

•             1 year experience managing software projects

•             Familiar with SDLC (waterfall and/or agile) and software application development activities

•             Understanding of IT technologies and components

•             Familiar with project management concepts, techniques

•             Fully proficiency with Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and project management tools

•             Energetic and multi-tasker. Able to switch context rapidly
