Systems Administrator/Software Engineer

The successful candidate will perform system administration on Linux Servers and Desktop Systems used to support Engineering Simulation problems in an unclassified environment; will ensure maximum availability and highest level of performance for production and mission critical technology resources; will strategize, plan, execute, and projects with Engineering stakeholders and teammates to these Linux computing services, upgrade existing systems and implement new ones. Candidate may also engage in research projects to advance computing systems and capabilities.
Qualifications
Experience working with Linux systems, and associated storage systems and peripherals; experience modifying and building the Linux kernel; exceptional technical and troubleshooting skills with computer hardware, operating systems, and productivity software; experience in system performance tuning and capacity planning; the ability to work well both independently and as a member of a team; the ability to establish priorities and resolve problems in a multi-tasked environment; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to work well with all levels of management, suppliers, and stakeholders; the ability and desire to learn and apply new technologies; project management skills (computer resource planning, organizing, coordinating, acquiring, and deploying).
Desired
Strong programming skills in UNIX scripting languages such as Perl and Python, C, C++, and FORTRAN; experience managing high-performance parallel file system based storage; working knowledge of cyber-security technologies and tools; technical knowledge and experience with VMware products and virtualized server, storage, and computer systems; experience with additional UNIX operating systems (e.g. IRIX); experience working with high-performance cluster computer systems
Education Degree in Computer Science, or related field, and a record of strong academic achievement.
BA/BS degree w/2-5+ years’ experience
