English Language Instruction and Support

The University has many resources available for students who speak English as a second language.

  • The University of Connecticut American English Language Institute (UCAELI). UCAELI offers a variety of coursework focusing on English proficiency. Their evening English classes, typically running in four to eight week sessions, are particularly well-suited for graduate students. These courses come in two varieties, focusing either on pronunciation or oral communication & presentation.
  • The University Writing Center. The Writing Center offers (free) tutoring, specifically focused on writing. They also offer a periodic graduate five-week seminar in academic writing.

Housing

A variety of student housing is available in the Storrs area.
